By Air
Local organizers will be present in each arrival terminal of the Prague Ruzyně International Airport on April 9th from about 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. to assist participants of the EMBO workshop. In the arriving halls, look for the sign "EMBO workshop".
There are basically two possibilities to reach the Hotel ILF from the airport:
- Public transport (the cheapest way)
Take bus no. 119 departing from the front of the airport arrival hall of Terminals 1 and 2 the to the underground station "Dejvická" on line A. Change to line C at the station "Muzeum" and continue to the station "Budějovická". The hotel ILF is opposite the station. The entire journey takes about 60 minutes and costs 26 CZK. For a luggage larger than 25 x 45 x 70 cm you need to buy an extra ticket for 13 CZK. More information about public transport in Prague can be found below.
- Taxi (the most convenient way)
There is one official company operating at the airport, the AAA radiotaxi, which will be informed about your arrival on April 8th-9th. Information kiosks for the AAA radiotaxi company are located opposite to the entrance to the Arrivals hall in Terminal 1, and also on the right hand side of the Arrivals hall in Terminal 2. Information kiosks are open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, AAA taxis operate 24 hours a day from in front of the arrival halls of both Terminals. The AAA radiotaxi company can provide either a middle-class vehicle for 4 passengers or minivans for 8 passengers. The price to the Hotel ILF is about 655 CZK or 28 EUR. The ride takes about 30 minutes. On request of reducing the travel cost, local organizers will help to group the participants to share the price, e.g., for three passengers in one taxi it will make approximately 220 CZK per person. Please, print out an information leaflet and hand it to the staff at the information kiosk for the AAA radiotaxi company. All participants travelling by taxi will be given a discount voucher for transportation back to the airport.
When returning to the airport, you need to notify the AAA taxi dispatch in advance about use of the discount voucher. The return trip from the Hotel ILF to the airport with a discount voucher is about 350 CZK (again shared among the passengers).
By Train
They are two railway stations to which trains from abroad arrive:
- Praha Hlavní nádraží (the underground station "Hlavní nádraží"),
- Praha Nádraží Holešovice (the underground station "Nádraží Holešovice").
Both main railway stations in Prague are situated on the underground line C. You can reach Hotel ILF within 10 to 15 minutes by taking the underground to the station "Budějovická" situated on line C, which is opposite the hotel. You will need to buy a ticket for 26 CZK, and possibly an additional ticket for a larger luggage (13 CZK). More information about public transport in Prague can be found below.
A taxi from Hlavní nádraží to Hotel ILF costs approximately 210 CZK and the ride takes about 10 minutes. A taxi from Nádraží Holešovice costs approximately 280 CZK and the ride takes about 15 minutes. Always ask the driver for the approximate price before entering the taxi!
By Bus
The Central bus station Florenc is located on the junction of the underground lines B and C at the station "Florenc". You can reach Hotel ILF within 10 minutes by taking the underground to the station "Budějovická" situated on line C, which is opposite the hotel. You will need to buy a ticket for 26 CZK, eventually an additional ticket for 13 CZK for a larger luggage. More information about public transport in Prague can be found below.
A taxi from Florenc costs approximately 220 CZK and the ride takes about 10 minutes. Always ask the driver for the approximate price before entering the taxi!
By Car
Hotel ILF provides safe and cheap parking facility at the hotel. The hotel is situated near the D1 motorway (Prague - Brno). You can use Google route planner to plan your trip.
Please note that highways are paid. Windshield stickers can be bought at the state border, at gas stations or at post offices. A ten day sticker cost 250 CZK, a one month sticker 350 CZK, and a one year sticker 1200 CZK. More information about roads can be found here.
Taxi in Prague
Please, always remember to use an official taxi company such as AAA radiotaxi, 1.1.1. RadioCAB, or Taxi Praha when traveling by taxi in Prague. Transfer price is guaranteed at 28 CZK / 1 km. You also need to pay a pick-up charge of 40 CZK. Waiting time is charged at 6 CZK per minute. You can pay in cash with Czech crowns or Euros. Some cars also accept credit cards such as VISA, Maestro, MasterCard, JBC, or Dinner Club. Always ask the driver for the approximate price before entering the taxi!
Public Transport in Prague
Prague provides an extensive network of buses and trams and three lines A, B, and C of underground transport. Connections for public transport in Prague, timetables, and more information about public transportation in Prague can be found at http://www.dpp.cz/en/.
Ticket costs:
- 18 CZK - bus/tram max. 20 min with no transfer options, underground max. 30 min or 5 stations (excl. boarding station)
- 26 CZK - 75 minutes (including transfers)
- 100 CZK - 1 day
- 330 CZK - 3 days
- 500 CZK - 5 days
For luggage larger than 25 x 45 x 70 cm you need to buy an extra ticket for 13 CZK.
Tickets can be bought in most of the underground stations at a ticket counter, from ticket machines, or at most of the tobacco/newspaper shops. Tickets are not available from the driver except for buses (28 CZK - 75 min transfer ticket). Please, always remember to validate (stamp) your ticket (in a yellow machine with a green arrow) when first entering the underground, bus, or tram. You should not validate your ticket again when making subsequent transfers. For the validity of your ticket see price rates above.
