Application Submission
This EMBO Workshop is open for application submission now! Workshop applicants are requested to submit all necessary information listed below. We especially encourage applications from Ph.D. students and early post-docs. Applications from experienced scientists will also be considered for acceptance. Please carefully read the following information.
Application deadline: January 31, 2011
In total, 78 applicants will be accepted, from which 29 applicants will be selected to deliver a shorter oral presentation. Applicant acceptance as well as the presentation type of accepted applications (poster/oral) will be decided by workshop organizers in cooperation with the scientists who will be chairing the relevant sessions. Eight workshop applicants, chosen by this same process, will be given the opportunity to co-chair the scientific sessions. Potential workshop participants will be notified by email about the status of their application approximately one week after the application deadline.
The programme, abstracts, and contact details from the workshop will be distributed in the form of a booklet.
Important note: Nucleus (a Landes Biosciences Journal publishing articles on molecular processes linked to nuclear organization and function, see http://www.landesbioscience.com/journals/nucleus) will put together a special issue on the workshop, edited by Ivan Raska, Yosef Gruenbaum and Karla Neugebauer. We will offer speakers and selected contributors to the workshop the opportunity to publish original research articles and reviews on the presented topics in this issue.

- All applications must be submitted in English.
- Only online submissions will be considered. Please do not fax, mail or email your abstract.
- Complete the online submission form carefully.
- You are also required to upload a word.doc file using the following TEMPLATE with the following information:
- An abstract.
- Full mailing address, e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers of the applicant.

- You are also required to upload a word.doc file using the following TEMPLATE with the following information:
- An abstract.
- Full mailing address, e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers.
- Short recommendation letter from the research advisor.
- Short Curriculum Vitae.
- A one- or two-page summary of research interests and achieved results emphasizing in particular why this workshop would be useful to the applicant's future research and career.
Accepted applicants
- You will receive payment details by email together with notification of your acceptance.
- The registration fee is 300 EUR (may be waived under special circumstances).
- The cost for full board, lodging for five nights in double rooms, and the scheduled social events is also 300 EUR.
- PhD and postdoctoral fellows within five years of obtaining their PhD may apply for financial support through the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) Youth Travel Fund (YTF) to participate in the Workshop. The YTF grants support travel, registration, as well as accommodation and food. See http://www.febs.org for more information.
Payment details
- We ask you to arrange the transfer no later than March 15th 2011, and to provide us (by email) a confirmation of the transfer at your earliest convenience.
- Unfortunately, we must ask participants to pay all associated bank fees. Please include with your registration fee an extra 8 Euros to cover bank transfer fees from banks within the European Union, or an extra 12 Euros for banks which are not within the European Union.
